Once she has finished digging her hole she will rest for a few minutes while her eggs begin to travel down her oviduct. As the egges begin to come out they will be coated in a thick, slippery fluid. This not only serves to lubricate the eggs as they pass through the female but also slows them down as the drop into the hole. This helps to prevent cracking as the eggs land on each other.
